Shelly received an associate's degree in computer-aided drafting technology in 1998 from the ITT Technical Institute in
Seattle, Washington.
"I thought quite a bit about going back to school. Learning is always better than not learning. If you are going to invest,
you should invest in yourself and in your own future," Shelly says. "So I called ITT Tech and enrolled."
She cites the project planning and development course as her favorite. "That course took everything we had learned and rolled
it into one. It helped me improve my own personal time management. Plus, my job consists of projects-ranging from highly
individual projects, such as personal residences, to large projects, such as the Spring Hill Suites Hotel in Seattle."
What is it like being a female in a profession usually thought to be male-oriented? "Women can do just as well as men if we
are willing to try. There is nothing to be scared about!"
